Housekeeping Worker

Position Summary

Housekeeping Worker. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitary conditions of assigned areas within the Medical Center, while following safety and infection control guidelines.

• Maintain established safety and infection control guidelines, wearing gloves and following infection control procedures, reporting hazardous conditions, and posting wet floor signs.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, collect trash, polish floors, perform high dusting, spot washes, clean doors, walls, blinds, radiators, stairways, vents, lights and other surfaces; use the Bed Tracking System, replenish cleaning supplies, and maintain adequate tools and equipment throughout the workday.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the organization’s Service Standards and incorporate them into all cleaning duties.
• Execute a comprehensive cleaning routine for each patient room daily: dusting, spot wall washing, damp wiping with disinfectants, floor sweeping and mopping, bathroom disinfection, restocking supplies, and removal of stains. Use RACE, PASS, chemical and trash safety practices, and properly disinfect areas contaminated by blood, body fluids and feces.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Ability to communicate and understand simple directions in English.
• Ability to read MSDS & chemical labels.

• 1–2 years of experience cleaning in a health‑care environment (preferred but not required).
