Job Title

Heavy‑Duty Cleaner – Building Services (One World Trade Center)

Position is a Local 32BJ union role. Salary range: $24.036 – $32.048 per hour.

• Perform heavy physical labor moving and pushing large amounts of trash.
• Operate freight cars, heavy and specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
• Operate tools and equipment for general custodial work.
• Follow work directions provided by supervisor.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation.
• Bend, squat, crawl, lift, and reach as required.
• Lift, carry, push, swing, or pull medium weights up to 75 pounds, including lifting overhead.
• Pantry Maintenance:
  • Clean all vertical and horizontal surfaces, microwave, and refrigerator as directed; sweep and damp mop the floor.
  • Clean lavatories, empty waste receptacles, replace liners, disinfect fixtures, replenish soap and paper dispensers, and disinfect floors.
  • Floor care: machine scrub floors, rinse, apply finish, sweep, damp mop, and buff hard floor surfaces; avoid splashing solution on walls, doors, or furniture.
  • Rubbish Collection: operate freight elevator, remove rubbish from designated freight elevator lobbies, sweep and mop floors.
• Rubbish Disposal: ensure all collected rubbish is disposed of in the proper bins (wet or dry trash). Contact supervisor if uncertain about items to discard.

• Prior office cleaning or similar experience.
• Operate tools and equipment for custodial work.
• Meet all schedules and timelines.
• Follow work directions and tenant requests.
• Work independently and cooperatively with others.
• Observe health and safety regulations.
• Use two‑way radio to receive and report assignments.
• Perform work while standing or walking.
• Expose to moving machinery, changing temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes acceptable as part of duties.

The position requires occasional walking, sitting, standing, and handling objects. Employee must occasionally lift and move up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Noise level is usually moderate.
