- Salary Range: $22.63 - $24.71
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position SummaryColumbia Dining Services is a dynamic, progressive department in an exciting, fun environment with a customer-focused culture. We have an immediate opening for a Head Porter. Porters clean and maintain different areas of the Dining Halls, including but not limited to, kitchens, dining rooms, dish rooms, and basements.
Responsibilities- Directs the porters and/or storeroom checkers
- Plans, lays out, and assigns work schedule and duties
- Cleans and maintains areas such as, but not limited to, kitchens, dining rooms, and basements
- Maintains storage and other assigned areas in a clean, orderly, and secure manner as prescribed by the Division of Dining Services, including, but not limited to, dry storage areas, walk‑in refrigerators, and freight elevator
- Assists in inventory and ordering procedures, safety and sanitation maintenance
- Receives, stores and issues, by prescribed methods, food and other supplies used by the Division of Dining Services
- Packages and ships food and supplies in a prescribed manner and keeps such records as may be required
- Uses equipment such as, but not limited to, dishwashing machines, rug shampoo machines, and pot washing machines
- Assists other employees in their performance of their jobs, as directed by responsible supervisors, using the necessary equipment in the performance of these jobs
- Trains lower labor grade employees using various training methods
- Observes safety standards and practices
- Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Previous experience as a Porter
