Overview

We are seeking two Utility Porters for our Building Services team at One World Trade Center. Candidates will provide superior customer service to building tenants and guests, ensuring designated areas are always clean and well organized.

Shift and Post Needed
  • Friday – Tuesday 12am-7:30am
  • Days off:
    Wednesday & Thursday

Positions are eligible for overtime in accordance with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. Wages are subject to tax with holdings and other applicable deductions. This is a Local 32BJ union position based at One World Trade Center.

Salary Range

$24.036 - $32.048 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Perform heavy physical labor moving and pushing large amounts of trash.
  • Operate freight car and heavy specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate tools and equipment for general custodial work.
  • Follow work directions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation; bend, squat, crawl, lift, and reach as required.
  • Lift, carry, push, swing, or pull medium weights up to 75 pounds, including lifting overhead.
Pantry Maintenance
  • Clean all vertical and horizontal surfaces; clean microwave and refrigerator if directed.
  • Thoroughly sweep and damp mop floor.
  • Clean lavatories and all fixtures with approved disinfectant; replenish soap and paper.
  • Wash all floors with approved disinfectant.
Floor Care
  • Machine scrub floors, ensuring corners are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Rinse scrubbed areas and apply floor finish.
  • Sweep, damp mop, and buff hard floor surfaces; avoid splashing solution on walls, doors, or furniture.
Rubbish Collection
  • Operate freight elevator and remove all rubbish from designated freight elevator lobbies.
  • Ensure all floors of freight lobbies are thoroughly swept and mopped.
Rubbish Disposal

Ensure all collected rubbish is disposed of in the proper containers (wet or dry trash). If uncertain, contact supervisor immediately.

Qualifications
  • Prior office cleaning or similar environment experience.
  • Operate tools and equipment in custodial work.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Follow work directions and tenant requests.
  • Work cooperatively with others and observe health and safety regulations.
  • Use two‑way radio to receive information and assignments.
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking.
  • Ability to handle fine manipulation, bending, squatting, crawling, lifting, and reaching; exposure to moving machinery, dust, and chemical fumes.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical demands include walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, balancing, stooping, crouching, bending, talking, and hearing. Occasionally lift and move up to 75 lbs. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Noise level is usually moderate.
