Performance Responsibilities

• Responsible for the regular upkeep of the building.
• Maintain and do minor repairs in both buildings, including locker repairs.
• Responsible for tasks associated with the general upkeep of buildings, including installing shelving, partitions, repairing woodwork and furnishings, etc.
• Perform yard keeping chores such as grass mowing, trimming, and leaf raking to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• During inclement weather, shovel, blow, salt, or put sand on walks and parking areas to promote the safety of students, staff, and patrons.
• Wet mop and buff lobbies on days of inclement weather.
• Examine school buildings regularly for needed cleaning, repairs, and maintenance, taking into account any hazardous situations that may exist, and reporting them to the supervisor.
• Deal with emergency repairs caused by hazardous situations efficiently.
• Correct all situations that might be considered hazardous to the safety and wellbeing of students and staff, reporting the situation to the immediate supervisor as soon as possible.
• Strive constantly to promote the health, safety, and comfort of students and staff.
• Change HVAC filters as needed.
• Replace light bulbs as needed.
• Examine fire extinguishers and other safety equipment for serviceability.
• Notify supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.
• Fill out requisitions and pick up supplies as needed.
• Be available at all times when a security alarm is activated.
• Report any and all security problems to the supervisor.
• Cooperate with police in problems affecting the schools and school premises.
• Maintain records as required.
• Maintain an accurate inventory and recommend the purchase of suitable cleaning and maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Set up gymnasium and all-purpose room as needed for assemblies, sports events, and other activities.
• Work when other maintenance/custodial personnel cannot come in.
• Keep custodial supplies in all of the custodians' closets.
• Daily responsibilities include unlocking exit doors and disarming alarms, turning on lights, fans, and cooling systems (summer), checking interior building conditions such as temperature, broken windows, and proper functioning of heating/cooling systems, checking cleanliness of the building, spotting mop and buffing hall surfaces.
• Pick up bottles, paper, and debris on school grounds.
• Clean and wet mop the all-purpose room.
• Sweep the halls (9:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m.).
• Check restrooms after first, third, and fifth periods.
• Field teacher requests (if unreasonable, consult the principal).
• Notify the principal about the cleanliness of the building.
• Complete any unfinished task from the previous evening, reporting to the principal any work not completed the previous evening.
• Notify the principal of repairs that need work orders.
• Wipe off tables, empty trash, and pick up as needed during and after each breakfast and lunch period.
• Keep restroom in kitchen area clean.
• Clean walls and tile weekly.
• Clean wooden classroom doors, desks, and exit doors weekly.
• Work hours:
  
  7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal or superintendent.
• Terms of Employment:
  Twelve (12) months a year. Salary and working conditions as agreed upon with the Board.
