Roadside Technician

Overview

The mission of the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan Night Roadside Technician is to be responsible for the Roadside service and/or diagnoses/repair of vehicles assigned to him/her by MBUSA Roadside or MBM Service management. Responsible for the actual service and/or diagnoses/repair of vehicles assigned to him by the service management or their designated representatives (Roadside dispatcher). A Roadside level Technician has a general knowledge of automotive repair.

• Provide a consistently outstanding brand and customer experience through preparation, attitude, and teamwork.
• Maintain the Night Roadside Assistance truck and tools assigned in an organized and clean manner.
• Respond to RAP pages before they expire.
• Maintain personal grooming, hygiene and uniform standards according to departmental policies.
• Run credit cards, handle cash, and write clear and detailed invoices.
• Reach the customer in a timely manner.
• Perform Night Roadside calls, general repairs and maintenances.
• Perform general repairs to electrical systems.
• Obtain and maintain a current N.Y. State inspection license (preferred).
• Complete services and/or repairs for which the Technician is trained as assigned by management or their designated representatives.
• Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
• Maintain an inventory of normal technician’s tools and use/safeguard provided tools and manuals.
• Participate in technical training as assigned by management.
• Produce quality work and keep rework at or below levels set by management.
• Ensure customer’s vehicles are returned clean or cleaner than before service.
• Arrive, take breaks, and depart work at times designated by management.
• Show common courtesy to customers and dealership personnel.
• Make every effort to achieve production objectives set by management.
• Review technical bulletins and other publications as assigned by management.
• Complete paperwork to support warranty repair orders, payroll, and other tasks assigned by management.
• Use shop supplies and materials economically.
• Communicate constructively with dealership personnel to satisfy customer needs.
• Report to management any situation that jeopardizes safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its personnel, or customers.

The pay rate is $25-$29/ hour.

• High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent work experience.
• General knowledge of automotive repair for Night Roadside calls, general repairs and maintenances.
• Able to commute into and out of Manhattan/New York City on a daily basis.
• Ability to withstand the physical requirements of the position.
