OverviewPerform duties of the Marina Mechanic in order to keep all fishing vessels operating smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities- Maintain all boats with routine maintenance and develop a maintenance schedule.
- Communicate with the Marina Manager on vessel request forms for work to be done.
- Keep up with all expenses via expense report and receipts.
- Work hours will be based on the urgency of the mechanical issue; hours may vary from early to very late.
- Keep a very clean and safe mechanic shop, organized and labeled.
- Perform re‑powering of multiple boats.
- Oversee the skiff fleet of 15 plus skiffs.
- Check fuel filters on gas tanks for water and rust (large fuel tanks for marina fuel).
- Check fuel tank levels on a schedule.
- Check with the Marina Manager before any large orders or parts runs.
- Drive and maneuver large trailers with boats.
- Help launch or land boats when required.
- Perform oil changes on vehicle fleet.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Certified Marine Outboard Mechanic.
- Experience on Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki Motors.
- Oral communication skills.
- Excellent driving record as verified by a motor vehicle report.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Reading skills.
- Schedules may vary. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays based on mechanical needs of the marina.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
- Apply common sense to carry out job instructions.
- Occasional exposure to wet or humid weather‑related conditions.
- Vision abilities: adjust focus; regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear; occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, or perceive odors or scents.
- Lift and bend to lift up to 60 pounds; push or pull a minimum of 120 lbs. of various items.
- Continual walking, standing, lifting, pulling.
- Drive a minimum of 150 miles per day on an as‑needed basis.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance (specific standards available).
- Maintain good relationships with other departments, employees, and guests.
- Interface daily with the public and provide support to those who interface with the public daily.
- High School education / High School diploma preferred.
- Marine Outboard Certification.
- Previous Outboard Experience required.
