Overview

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Building Systems Operator (BSO) for our client site in Pearl River, NY. The successful candidate will operate and maintain building automation systems with a focus on preventative maintenance, customer service, and teamwork to support a best-in-class working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and control the Building Automation System (BMS/BAS) and provide an intermediate level of troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical and HVAC equipment/systems in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Identify and correct safety-related issues; perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential failures.
  • Conduct daily duties including monitoring alarms and trends in BMS/BAS, performing preventive maintenance actions (lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.).
  • Respond to alarm conditions with basic troubleshooting and remediation; make emergency calls for support when necessary.
  • Document room environmental deviations, root cause, and corrective actions in event reports; log daily operations and alarms appropriately.
  • Perform routine building rounds to verify no emergency conditions exist and document findings in the Daily Logbook.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for outside contractors and coordinate with security during fire panel alarms.
  • Respond to work orders, provide feedback to customers, and recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Follow safety guidelines (e.g., job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout) and wear required PPE.
  • Operate tools, laptops, and diagnostic hardware; maintain a flexible schedule to meet customer needs.
  • Keep mechanical rooms clean and organized; provide shift coverage as needed.
  • Collaborate in a team environment; demonstrate professionalism, respect, and cultural awareness.
  • Balance workload, take initiative to resolve issues, and adapt priorities as requested by management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management or Lead.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 0–1 year of experience as a Building Systems Operator or HVAC maintenance mechanic in an industrial environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to pass a tuberculosis test and maintain annual negative results; ability to pass medical evaluations for respirator use and fit testing.
  • Ability to obtain required security access badge and an appropriate driver’s license; facility credentials/authorization as needed.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency for facility credentials/authorization; position does not sponsor work authorization.
  • Background investigation, fingerprinting, and security risk assessment as required;
    Must attend and pass training for Select Agent Program (as applicable).
  • Pre- and/or post-hiring drug screening per policy; may include federal drug screening.
  • Ability to comply with Avian Influenza policies and related quarantines where applicable.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motions; color-differentiation for wiring.
  • Wears steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting BAS/BMS systems (Honeywell, Siemens, Edstrom, etc.).
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing process mechanical systems (HVAC, related utilities).
  • Experience with Fire Protection Systems and water systems in pharmaceutical applications.
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements in pharmaceutical environments.
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: 32.00–35.00 per hour (range may vary by education, experience, and market data).

Work Schedule
