Older Adult Center Porter

The Older Adult Center at Bay Terrace, serving adults aged 60+, is a program of Commonpoint, a multipurpose social service agency. Our mission is to sustain and enhance the quality of family and individual life for all members of our community, regardless of religion, ethnic or cultural background, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual preference, age, or disability, within a pervasive and inclusive environment that facilitates individual growth, meets individual needs and builds community.

We accomplish this mission through a broad range of social, educational, cultural and recreational services and programs that reach community members of all ages and backgrounds.

• Function as a part-time Porter assigned to the Older Adult Center.
• Room set-ups, take-downs, and clean-ups as the schedule requires.
• Routine cleaning including sweeping, mopping, collecting garbage, and cleaning of all rooms utilized by the Older Adult Center for programming as well as staff offices.
• Assist with daily lunch service including, but not limited to washing/sanitizing of utensils and wares, cleaning warmer, refrigerator, freezer and steam table as needed.
• Receiving, unpacking and stocking supplies as needed.
• Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of other spaces within the Bay Terrace Center as requested.
• Other tasks as assigned.

• Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and handling of heavy materials such as tables and chairs.
• Knowledge of the proper use of household tools, cleaners and cleaning equipment.
• Demonstrates cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from a very diverse number of backgrounds.
• Organizational skills to coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities.

• High School graduate or equivalency required.
• Must speak, read and write English fluently.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and interact with older adults in a mature, caring manner.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations.
• Ability to work independently on tasks and be responsive to supervision.

• Work schedule:
  
  part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday; must be available mornings and early afternoons.
• Salary: $18.00 per hour.
