The Lead Event Porter is responsible for ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards across all event areas. This role oversees the sanitation team, maintains sanitation stations, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. The Sanitizer Captain is also accountable for all sanitation equipment, service items, and supplies, ensuring proper use, maintenance, and readiness for each event.

Essential Functions of the Position
  • Supervise and coordinate the sanitation team, including Porters, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to standard.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all event areas, including restrooms, bars, service stations, kitchens, and public spaces.
  • Anticipate and accommodate the needs of all team members and employees to ensure smooth operations.
  • Aide in cleaning inside and outside the venue, including floors, furniture, windows, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Ensure proper storage, disposal, and removal of garbage, recyclables, and soiled linens.
  • Maintain walkways, staging areas, and entry points free of debris, spills, or hazards.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of cleaning chemicals, soaps, equipment, and proper handling procedures.
  • Comply with Department of Health and company sanitation standards at all times.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down sanitation stations; stock supplies such as gloves, sanitizers, and cleaning products.
  • Perform opening and closing side‑work and inspections as prescribed by management.
  • Conduct routine inspections of all event areas to identify sanitation or safety issues and take corrective action.
  • Responsible for all sanitation equipment and service items, including dishware, glassware, cutlery, tools, and cleaning supplies, ensuring proper use, maintenance, storage, and readiness for all events.
  • Communicate product, equipment, or supply needs to the event manager, chefs, or purchasing team promptly.
  • Train and mentor sanitation staff on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and safety protocols.
  • Lead by example in teamwork, professionalism, and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Report all equipment, furniture, or supply damage or breakage immediately to management.
  • Collaborate with other event staff (servers, bartenders, chefs, and operations team) to maintain smooth event operations.
  • Assist in implementing emergency cleaning or sanitation procedures when needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in pre‑event briefings, training sessions, and departmental meetings.
  • Document cleaning schedules, completed tasks, and any sanitation issues for management review.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to ensure the overall success of the event.
  • Assist and/or complete additional tasks as assigned.
Education/Working Knowledge
  • Previous experience in sanitation, custodial, or hospitality roles preferred.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including sanitation standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials.
