Education Center H Park Facilities Coordinator - Otisville, NY

The Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County Park Facilities Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Association Park Facilities Manager, plays an integral part of the operation of the Education Center & 4-H Park. The Park Facilities Coordinator has the primary responsibility for cleaning, repairing, planning for, and maintaining the Park’s grounds, and physical facilities to ensure the functionality of the premises and the safety of staff, volunteers, participants, and the public.

It is the role of the position to follow daily, weekly and monthly maintenance, monitoring, and repair schedules including, but not limited to, the office areas, bathrooms, storage areas, entrances, HVAC systems, fire alarms and suppression systems, pest management, high tunnel and greenhouse structures, parking lots, lawn and garden grounds. The Park Facilities Coordinator is also responsible for preparation of facilities for meetings, rentals, & events (including the county fair);

mowing; snow removal; repairs; minor carpentry and construction projects; maintenance of equipment; storing rental vehicles; set up/breakdown; and coordinating facility needs with the Association Facilities Manager and/or designated staff and/or volunteers. Works with the Association Facilities Manager to ensure Association staff are trained in Emergency Management strategies by hosting fire drills and related trainings. Keep Facilities Manager up to date on building upkeep needs, order facilities supplies and equipment within approved budgets, maintain safety of walking trails by removing dangerous plants and limbs.

Ensure building and grounds are presentable at all times.

This is a part time, 20 hours per week, benefits eligible position, primarily based at the Education Center & 4-H Park in Otisville, but presence at the main office in Middletown will be expected for meetings and other facilities responsibilities at times.

• Associate’s degree plus experience relevant to the role of the position. High School diploma/GED plus 1 year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Ability to operate a tractor and related equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and repair methods, materials, and techniques applicable to public buildings. Demonstrated ability to provide cleaning, maintenance, and repair work.
• Ability to identify and address safety concerns in the workplace.
• Reliability and competence with building mechanicals and plumbing operations.
• Ability to work cooperatively with commercial maintenance and repair services on occasion.
• Physical ability to do heavy lifting, shovel snow, and carry supplies and equipment.
• Ability to climb and perform work from a ladder.
• Basic computer skills.
• Interest in taking pride in building and offices appearances and how the organization is reflected.
• Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
