The Porter Role at Jetro Restaurant DepotIn this position, you will actively safeguard customers and employees by promptly addressing hazardous liquids, spills, and debris across all key warehouse areas. A central part of the job involves maintaining accurate Sanitation and Cleaning Logs on a daily basis to ensure ongoing compliance with the company's HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) program. The porter may also take on additional assignments from the branch manager, ranging from minor paint touchups to pallet cleaning and general lighting maintenance.
KeyDuties and Responsibilities
The daily workflow centers on comprehensive upkeep of both interior and exterior premises. Core tasks include:
- Sweeping interior and exterior building areas.
- Cleaning and maintaining all facility restrooms.
- Wiping down windows, doors, and designated coffee areas.
- Managing all trash containers and operating waste-handling equipment, including trash compactors and cardboard balers.
- Utilizing floor scrubbing machinery to uphold warehouse surface standards.
- Responding immediately to warehouse spills to prevent slip-and-fall hazards.
- Sanitizing the employee break room according to the posted schedule.
- Collaborating with department managers on aisle cleaning and specialized tasks.
- Verifying HACCP guidelines and sanitation logs as outlined.
- Performing minor facility upkeep - such as paint touchups, cleaning wet pallets, and general lighting maintenance as assigned.
Candidates should possess strong communication skills and a foundational understanding of basic sanitation guidelines. While not mandatory, familiarity with operating floor machines, balers, and compactors is a definite plus. Physical capability is essential: applicants must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
