Substitute Custodian

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Substitute Custodian to join our team and ensure our facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming. As a Custodian (Substitute), you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our buildings, floors, and common areas. This position offers the flexibility to step into custodial duties as needed, supporting our ongoing commitment to providing a healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create an inviting space that promotes safety and productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and sanitizing surfaces across various areas of the facility
• Conduct routine floor care such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain a professional appearance
• Assist with janitorial tasks related to commercial cleaning in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas
• Support facilities maintenance activities including minor repairs and reporting larger issues to appropriate personnel
• Help with industrial cleaning tasks when required to ensure health standards are met in all spaces
• Maintain cleanliness of designated areas according to safety protocols and standards
• Support residential painting projects or touch-ups as needed to uphold the facility's appearance

Requirements:

• Prior custodial experience or janitorial background preferred; experience in commercial or industrial cleaning is a plus
• Knowledge of floor care techniques such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing surfaces
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating cleaning equipment
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive attitude toward maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions clearly
• Flexibility to work as a substitute
