Role
Description:
In coordination with the House Manager, the Stage Manager provides support on and offstage for events and performances in the Center for the Arts, Bayard Sharp Hall, and Amy
E. Dupont Music Building. Hours are variable, dependent on the event schedule, and average approximately 6-10 hours per week. Qualified candidates must be available and willing to work in the evenings and on weekends
- Direct and supervise Event Staff operations both onstage and backstage
- Set stage according to layout provided
- Set and adjust stage lighting as needed
- Interface with performers to confirm their needs are met
- Open stage doors as performers enter and exit the stage
- Adjust onstage setting throughout the event as needed
- After the completion of an event, teardown staging and reset to default setting
- Under direction of the Technical Assistant, assist in setup and teardown of Audio/Visual Technology
- Ensure that University and venue policies are followed by clients and performers
- May occasionally be scheduled in other roles, such as Event Staff, to ensure that an event is fully staffed
- Previous experience managing a team is preferred
- Must be comfortable interfacing with performers of all backgrounds
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs unassisted
- Experience in a performing arts environment is a bonus
Applicants must be undergraduate students at the University of Delaware. Work study eligibility can be found here . Applicants who are not enrolled as undergraduate students at the University will not be considered for this position. Employment Limitations and Exceptions
Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Delaware and be in good academic standing. To be considered for additional on-campus employment, applicantscombined on-campus employment, including teaching, research and graduate assistantship, must not exceed 29.5 hours per week.
Graduate students on contract may hold additional employment, on campus or off, up to 29.5 hours per week total without approval by the student’s program, the student advisor or the Graduate College. However, graduate students on contract are encouraged to discuss additional employment with their advisors to avoid any situations that might hinder timely progress toward the degree.
