Housekeeping
This role focuses on maintaining clean, safe, and orderly facilities across a multi-building campus. You perform general housekeeping and basic building maintenance tasks, including trash removal, recycling, and room setup and breakdown for special events. You support day-to-day operations by moving furniture and boxes, assisting with office relocations, and ensuring that shared spaces, classrooms, grounds, hospitals, and laboratories remain well maintained.
Responsibilities- Perform general housekeeping and facility maintenance duties across multiple buildings.
- Remove trash and recyclables from designated areas and ensure proper disposal and recycling procedures are followed.
- Clean offices and shared spaces, maintaining a tidy, safe, and presentable environment.
- Set up rooms for special events, including arranging furniture and equipment according to event requirements.
- Break down and restore rooms to their standard configuration after events.
- Move furniture, boxes, and other materials safely and efficiently as needed.
- Assist with relocating offices, including moving and organizing office furniture and equipment.
- Follow established safety procedures and guidelines while performing all tasks.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with staff, students, and visitors.
- Support general facility operations as assigned, including work in classrooms, shared spaces, grounds, hospitals, and laboratories.
- Ability to perform general housekeeping and facility maintenance duties reliably and efficiently.
- Experience with material handling, including safely lifting, carrying, and moving furniture, boxes, and equipment.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform occasional indoor work.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures in a facility environment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with building occupants and visitors.
- Ability to work effectively on a first shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., including an unpaid lunch break.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a multi-building facility, such as a college campus or similar environment.
- Familiarity with general facility operations, including classrooms, shared spaces, grounds, hospitals, and laboratories.
- Ability to support office relocations and event setups with minimal supervision.
- Reliability and attention to detail in maintaining clean and orderly spaces.

Work EnvironmentYou work on a multi-building college campus that includes classrooms, shared spaces, grounds, hospitals, and laboratories. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions, with frequent movement between buildings and areas. You primarily work on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a one-hour unpaid lunch. The environment is active and service-oriented, requiring safe material handling, adherence to facility safety procedures, and professional interaction with staff, students, and visitors.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.22 - $16.22/hr.
