Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Maintenance Manager will provide technical support for the plant infrastructure and manage projects related to electrical/mechanical support systems, building renovations, and other infrastructure‑related items to support manufacturing activities. This role may also include manufacturing equipment support responsibilities and involves coordinating maintenance/janitorial activities on an assigned shift.
Responsibilities- Provide technical support and consultation on plant infrastructure and facility support systems across multiple shifts.
- Offer technical expertise on plant layout, connections, and troubleshooting of facility operational issues.
- Own and facilitate effective utilization and operation of facility support systems such as lighting, air compressors, electrical, plumbing, vacuum pumps, sprinklers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, heaters, and backup generators.
- Conduct problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action for equipment failures.
- Supervise hourly bargaining unit maintenance staff: develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures; evaluate staff and recommend hiring or termination; address subordinate complaints in partnership with HR.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes related to safe maintenance work practices through internal audits and safety records.
- Coordinate all maintenance activities with other departments to meet company goals, balancing workloads and resources to achieve maximum results.
- Provide technical leadership to the team for problem resolution.
- Assist troubleshooting and downtime response, including electrical wiring, machine controls hardware/software, PLC, and high/low voltage power distribution.
- Respond to emergencies, coordinate with other responders, and direct work to make necessary repairs cost‑effectively and timely.
- Ensure staff is trained in complex maintenance activities and follows standard operating procedures, measured by skill assessments and work order audits.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work and lead collaboratively in a cross‑functional team with both salaried and union hourly personnel.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
- High level of initiative, energy, and motivation to develop and grow in a team environment.
- Strong technical competency and experience in electrical/mechanical support systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to facilitate team projects and drive results.
- Strong problem‑solving and follow‑through ability.
