Overview
Plant Facilities Engineer 1 within the Bureau of Finance and Administration, Office of Property and Facilities Services. This position is open to current State of Connecticut employees.

- Supervise highly skilled facility maintenance personnel across state structures.
- Ensure physical plant systems remain in good repair, meet life and fire safety codes, and control energy usage.
- Monitor building automation systems.
- Oversee Regions 2, 3, and 4 of the Property & Facilities Division’s ongoing projects including facility construction, site improvements, and maintenance facilities.
- Research cost estimates for preventive maintenance, repair work, and equipment procurement.
- Prepare budgetary and project progress reports.
- Process vendor payments and seek agency reimbursements.
- Schedule work assignments for employees and contracted labor.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and safety training.
- Monday – Friday
- Full‑time (40 hours per week)
- First shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)

Newington, CT - On‑site work environment
- Eight (8) years of technical experience in maintenance and repair of large buildings and utility services.
- Two (2) years in first‑line supervisory capacity, responsible for directing a large crew of trades workers or contractors.
- College training in architecture, mechanical or electrical engineering may substitute up to four (4) years of experience.
- Knowledge of building construction methods, preventive maintenance techniques, and relevant state and federal regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plan, supervise, and inspect building repair and maintenance work, and utilize computer software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and enterprise financial systems such as People Soft, Core‑CT, and inventory management systems.
- Facility management experience across multiple trade functions.
- Project management experience for varying scale and complexity, including troubleshooting repairs, upgrades to heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical systems, and fleet maintenance.
- Contract administration experience with procurement of equipment and services.
- Construction project management experience, including bidding and renovation work.
- Administrative responsibilities such as employee training, scheduling assignments, and handling performance evaluations and personnel matters.
