Custodian / 8 Hours Daily

Bass Middle School

• Provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment.
• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat, clean, and safe at all times.
• Perform essential building care: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dewaxing, waxing floors; cleaning blinds, window glass, light fixtures, walls, carpet, restrooms, and other spaces within the school facility.
• Sweep classrooms and empty waste containers daily.
• Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when needed.
• Scrub and disinfect restroom floors daily; clean all sanitary fixtures daily.
• Check equipment and facility daily and report any damage immediately to the principal.
• Remain on school premises during scheduled hours and during periods when the principal authorizes special use of the building.
• Move furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities, as directed by the lead custodian or principal.
• Comply with local laws, ordinances, and regulations for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive given by the lead custodian, principal, or other administrator.
• Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the lead custodian and/or administrators.

Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relations with other employees and school system personnel.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of custodial and light maintenance duties, including lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing a ladder.
• Ability to learn repetitive tasks and perform them under supervision.
• Working knowledge of methods and materials essential to good housekeeping and sanitation practices.
