DescriptionLooking for experienced captain or boat manager to oversee our sailing yacht (Able Apogee, based at Safe Harbor Jamestown Boatyard, RI) through summer 2026 and 2026–27 winter season. Due to demanding professional schedules we are not available for routine on-the-ground oversight. We are not looking for sailing assistance. The role is primarily one of stewardship and technical readiness.
Responsibilities- Periodic assessment of boat systems and reporting back to the owners
- Oversight and maintenance of the rigging
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems
- Coordinating with the yard and outside contractors
- Ensuring the boat is fully prepared for medium- and long-range passages along the U.S. East Coast and to the Caribbean
- Experience managing a comparable cruising sailboat
- Strong knowledge of rig, electrical, and electronics
- Comfortable as single point of contact for owners, yard, and tradespeople
