The Janitorial Worker performs cleaning and basic custodial duties to help keep assigned work locations clean, safe, and organized. Responsibilities may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and other areas, removing trash and recycling, restocking supplies, and completing other assigned cleaning tasks. The Janitorial Worker may work at one or more locations and may be required to travel between sites during the workday.
The position follows established cleaning and safety procedures, uses cleaning supplies and equipment properly, and reports any safety or maintenance concerns. The Janitorial Worker receives day-to-day direction from the Site Supervisor, while the Director provides overall oversight of job performance and expectations. The Janitorial Worker works independently or as part of a team and supports The Kennedy Collective’s mission, vision, and values.

- Perform routine cleaning and custodial duties to maintain assigned work locations in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean floors, furniture, fixtures, and other assigned surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners as needed.
- Restock paper products, soap, and other supplies in assigned areas.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks according to established schedules and expectations.
- Use cleaning products, supplies, tools, and equipment safely and according to instructions.
- Follow established cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Properly store cleaning products, supplies, and equipment after use.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition and report equipment problems as needed.
- Report spills, hazards, maintenance concerns, property damage, or unsafe conditions to the Site Supervisor.
- Follow daily assignments and direction provided by the Site Supervisor.
- Work independently or with other team members to complete assigned duties.
- Maintain assigned areas and ensure cleaning tasks are completed within expected time frames.
- Work at one or more assigned locations and travel between work sites during the workday when required.
- Respect the property, belongings, and work spaces of others while performing assigned duties.
- Report to work as scheduled and maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Communicate respectfully and appropriately with supervisors, coworkers, and individuals at assigned work locations.
- Follow organizational policies, workplace rules, and requirements of assigned work locations.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding information seen or heard while performing job duties.
- Participate in required training, meetings, and safety instruction.
- Receive day-to-day direction from the Site Supervisor, with overall performance oversight provided by the Director.

Education and Experience
- No specific education or previous janitorial experience required.
- Ability to learn and complete assigned cleaning tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and established cleaning and safety procedures.
- Ability to use cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment safely.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors and coworkers regarding work assignments and needs.
- Ability to work at assigned locations and travel between work sites when required.
- Previous cleaning, janitorial, custodial, or related work experience preferred but not required.
