Floor Maintenance Worker ​/ Custodian

Role Overview

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly hospital environment through a variety of cleaning and minor repair duties.

• Perform routine floor cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing various flooring types.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums, ensuring proper functionality.
• Follow safety protocols, including proper use of protective gear and safe handling of supplies.
• Address minor repairs like fixing loose tiles or damages, and perform preventive maintenance to extend floor lifespan.
• Respond promptly to emergencies like spills or damages, ensuring safety.
• Inspect floors regularly, report damages, and maintain cleanliness and aesthetics.
• Communicate effectively with staff and visitors, handling inquiries and complaints professionally.
• Keep work areas organized and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
• Operate with minimal disruption to hospital operations and guests.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Three to six months of related experience or training.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Professional communication skills.
