Environmental Service Worker
We are seeking a dedicated janitorial worker to maintain cleanliness and aseptic conditions in the labor and delivery areas of the hospital. This role involves cleaning rooms throughout the night, interacting with nursing staff, and ensuring a hygienic environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities- Clean rooms in the labor and delivery areas throughout the night.
- Work collaboratively with nurses in the department.
- Maintain aseptic conditions by vacuuming, dust mopping, high dusting, making beds, removing trash/linen, and washing walls and ceilings.
- Use vacuum and cleaning materials effectively on a daily basis.
- Assist with spot cleaning rooms while patients are present, including dust mopping, pulling trash, cleaning bathrooms, and high touch areas.
- Perform discharge cleaning when patients leave, involving deep cleaning of floors, walls, bathrooms, and wiping down furniture.
- Engage with patients and manage interactions with difficult patients respectfully.
- Use detergents, germicides, and other supplies following recommended procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized station, cart, closet, and equipment.
- Report equipment repairs to the supervisor.
- Log activities throughout the shift and complete required paperwork.
- Collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen.
- Operate equipment such as mops, computers, supply carts, detergents, brooms, vacuums, telephones, pagers, and hand sweepers.
- Experience in housekeeping, cleaning, and janitorial work.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to push/pull 65 lbs, lift up to 50 lbs, and constantly lift up to 20 lbs.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
- Physical stamina to push, pull, kneel, and crouch.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newton, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
