Controller, Accounting, Financial Compliance

The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting and financial operations for one or more dealership franchises, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial analysis to support business performance. This person ensures that financial statements accurately reflect the dealership’s performance, maintains effective internal controls, and provides financial analysis to the General Manager and corporate leadership. This role is based in Niles, IL and reports directly to the CFO.

Position Highlights:

• Oversee all accounting operations for one or more dealership franchises
• Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements
• Complete manufacturer financial statements and reporting packages
• Analyze departmental sales, gross profit, expenses and profitability
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Oversee cash management, floorplan reconciliations and bank activity
• Review vehicle inventory, schedules, receivables and reconciliations
• Maintain internal controls and safeguard dealership assets
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer, lender, tax and regulatory requirements
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions
• Supervise, train and develop dealership accounting employees
• Partner with the General Manager and department leaders to improve financial performance
• Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation and external reporting

• Five to seven or more years of previous Controller or Office Manager experience
• Strong understanding of dealership financial statements
• Experience with Tekion dealership management software is preferred
• Experience managing an accounting staff
  
  Strong Excel and financial-analysis skills
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
• Competitive base salary of $150,00–$200,000 with a bonus opportunity
