Overview
Senior Staff Managing, Mechanical Engineer is a senior technical leader who defines and drives mechanical design strategy across Shure's product portfolio. This role combines deep expertise in mechanical architecture, materials, and manufacturing with a systems-level mindset to solve complex engineering challenges in audio, wireless, and acoustics-driven products, while leading and developing a small team of engineers.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this leader applies sound engineering judgment to guide design approaches, influence technical standards, and shape long-term product direction. Success in this role requires seamless collaboration across Electrical, RF, Acoustics, Firmware, and Manufacturing disciplines to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions. Equally important, the role sets the benchmark for engineering excellence—demonstrating craftsmanship, innovation, and clear, effective communication while elevating team capability.
This position will be hybrid based out of our Niles, IL HQ!
Responsibilities- Technical Leader (advance knowledge in the following areas: FEA analysis, Fluid Dynamics, Material Science, Injection Molding, Die Casting, DFM & DFA, Thermal Dynamics, EMC & ESD) and provides mentorship to the ME team.
- Supports system-level design architectures with high knowledge in the interactions between multiple engineering disciplines across all product lines within the Shure portfolio.
- Functional management of individuals or small groups of subordinates or peer associates in the same discipline. Sets performance goals and approaches for the current fiscal year and evaluates associates’ performance against said goals (APGs). Works with other team leads, project managers, product managers and managing engineers to help meet resource needs.
- Completes/Leads projects at all levels of mechanical engineering complexity which would include system-level studies & block diagrams, specifications, timelines, and cost elements. Exercises independent judgment on various methods and approaches.
- Supports ongoing production/manufacturing via root cause analysis & collaboration with other divisional groups within Shure.
- Creates fully defined 3D models and associated 2D documentation using CAD software (Siemens NX) and adheres to Shure standards.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred. (1 year of college is equivalent to 2 years of related experience).
- Minimum of 10–15 years of experience processing broad experience and knowledge in mechanical engineering concepts involving video, wireless and/or audio product development for use in indoor and outdoor environments, including experience contributing to the development of company objectives and standards.

CompensationBase salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The base salary for this position ranges from $134,000 to $242,000. This position may also be eligible for an incentive pay program, which varies based on individual and company performance in the year. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
