Position: EHS Specialist I

Job Overview

Environment, Health and Safety Specialist responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive EHS Management System at a local plant site or regional area. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, adheres to Woodward’s global EHS strategies, and supports risk reduction and operational productivity enhancement. In some locations, the primary focus is on safety and health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and work areas to ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain EHS records, accurately documenting incidents, inspections, and corrective actions within the EHS management system.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training materials and sessions for employees.
  • Monitor compliance with EHS standards and internal policies, track and report on compliance to ensure organizational adherence.
  • Participate in incident investigations, gathering data and supporting root cause analysis.
Key Skills
  • Environmental regulations knowledge: understand and apply relevant environmental laws and regulations.
  • Safety compliance: ensure workplace safety standards are met by following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Risk assessment: identify and evaluate potential hazards, mitigate risks, and enhance safety measures.
  • Incident reporting: accurately document and report safety incidents and near misses following standardized procedures.
  • Data analysis: analyze safety and environmental data to identify trends and support decision‑making.
  • Communication: effectively convey safety protocols and procedures to team members and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, technical documentation, time management, and team collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety (BA/BS) preferred or a related field.
  • Experience in occupational safety and/or environmental work within a manufacturing environment or a related industry or agency.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with environmental, safety, and health issues in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate environmental, health, and safety exposures and risks.
  • Collaborative mindset to work with colleagues possessing varying degrees of EHS subject‑matter knowledge.
  • Compliance with ITAR/EAR requirements: all applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain required authorizations.
Compensation

Estimated annual base pay: $65,000 (minimum) – $84,000 (midpoint) – $104,000 (maximum). All team members are eligible for an annual cash bonus.
