About the Archdiocese
The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake County, covering a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. The Archdiocese is led by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich and employs more than 13,000 people in its ministries, including Catholic Charities and one of the country’s largest nonprofit social service agencies.
Its 150+ elementary and secondary schools form one of the largest private school systems in the U.S., all of which have earned 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards.
The Operations Director (OD) is a practicing Catholic who supports Church teachings, mission and values. As a professional administrator and strategic leader, the OD serves one or more parishes, partnering with the pastor and the Director of Vicariate Operations to steward human, financial and physical resources. The role requires a service‑mindset, the handling of confidential information, and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate issues, and implement solutions.
