Position Overview

The Machinist position reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a limited number of machine types in an industrial setting. The role operates under a high level of supervision, with limited troubleshooting, decision‑making, and problem solving, and involves limited contact with external suppliers or customers.
Benefits- Estimated hourly pay: $16.49 (minimum) – $28.60 (maximum). Plus shift differential and overtime, if applicable

- Assist in setting up and operating machines with little or no supervision and perform required process checks or inspections per the process documentation
- Document nonconforming material according to procedures, and participate in root‑cause and corrective actions
- Adhere to all safety standards, regulations, and operating procedures
- Use computer programs to enter part data, log time, look up instructions and blueprints, and download programs
- Follow work instructions, set‑up sheets, and method documents to correctly operate machines and inspect machined parts
- Use gauging equipment to ensure conformance to engineering specifications and standards through the production run
- Clean and maintain measuring instruments and test equipment; inspect parts for cleanliness, e.g., routed and deburring operations; operate precision inspection equipment and perform first‑piece check‑out when applicable
- Interpret and follow blueprints for proper production task completion
- Perform routed operations of precision close‑tolerance parts
- Complete paperwork while adhering to record retention requirements
- Apply basic Six Sigma tools and methodology
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of related work experience or an applicable trade school degree
- Knowledge of and ability to apply inspection techniques and tools, including micrometers, functional and cylindrical gauges, comparators, indicator setups, calibration stickers, and scales
- Ability to read, interpret, and use information presented in drawings, diagrams, and blueprints to determine appropriate activities, tools, and next steps in the production process
- Ability to learn nonconformance procedures and processes when parts fail inspection, and to log and track failed inspections
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, e.g., perpendicularity, parallelism, flatness, datum structures, material condition tolerances, orientation tolerances
- Knowledge of CNC programming/machining, ability to read, understand, edit basic programs and/or basic knowledge of grinding, turning, milling, drilling
- Understanding of how quality impacts the organization, including costs to customers, recalls, and reputation, and the ability to take necessary steps to ensure consistent quality
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Willingness to demonstrate eagerness, enthusiasm, and optimism for work activities
- Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions
This position requires use of information subject to ITAR and EAR.
