Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)

Location: Niles, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 1st Shift (Flexible start time - typically between 7:00 AM-9:00 AM)
Compensation: $33 - $38/hour

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting high-end printing and packaging operations. This is a hands-on role focused on keeping production equipment running efficiently through a combination of preventive maintenance and real-time troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is mechanically strong, self-directed, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities shift throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and minor electrical issues
• Support production by minimizing downtime and responding quickly to issues
• Maintain and repair presses, converting equipment, conveyors, and packaging machinery
• Perform fabrication work, including welding and basic machining repairs
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and CMMS records
• Assist with installation and setup of new equipment
• Handle a wide range of day-to-day repairs such as fixing broken bolts, hoses, and material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks)

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude (approximately 80% mechanical focus)
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment independently
• Experience with welding (MIG/TIG) and machining (lathe, mill)
• Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and general industrial systems

Preferred:

• Experience in printing, packaging, or paper manufacturing environments
• Technical certifications
