Health and Safety Technician

The EHS Technician supports the operations department. The role combines administrative duties for an organization’s environmental health & safety program with technical writing, cross‑functional communication, and workflow optimization to support both internal teams and external customers to ensure compliance with local, state & federal standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead cross‑functional teams involving production resources to comply with OSHA guidelines
  • Work across multiple brands to create, update and implement new safety policies, procedures, etc.
  • Inspect site to identify environmental, chemical & health hazards and assess risk to ensure proper controls are in place to mitigate impacts on the company and our surrounding communities
  • Maintain SDS library
  • Conduct safety meetings, shop safety training, review safety policies as necessary
  • Maintain safety incident, near miss reporting
  • Perform safety audits for both office & manufacturing warehouse, crane inspections, chain inspections, etc.
  • Initiate and drive projects to improve safety
  • Preemptively identify environmental concerns and hazards and develop action plans to mitigate the risk
  • Correct unsafe acts or conditions through regular line of authority
  • May exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required
  • Conduct annual inspections of harness, slings, lanyards and retractable
  • Install OSHA compliant systems / procedure to address known shortcomings
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for compliance for both organization and regulatory standards
  • Confirm evacuation rosters are maintained along with evacuation equipment
  • Effectively work within a team and across all departments
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Work with minimal supervision and maximum self‑motivation
  • Provide environmental support to all areas of the company and for regulatory compliance
  • Conduct job hazard analysis
  • Advise and instruct on various safety related topics (noise levels, hazardous material storage, etc.)
  • Responds to employees’ safety concerns
  • Arrange for OSHA mandated testing and / or evaluations of the workplace by external agencies
  • Identify, document, and recommend resolutions to hazardous or potentially hazardous situations
  • Train & educate employees on environmental impacts, regulatory compliance & best practices
Requirements
  • Technical Writing – can develop clean, understandable SOPs or quality‑related instructions
  • Technical Drawings – can read and understand drawings for needed parts
  • Project Coordination – capable of handling multiple deadlines and improving team processes
  • CRM/ERP Proficiency – familiar with M2M, SAP, or similar systems
  • Initiative & Judgment – not just reactive—can anticipate needs and build/order accordingly
  • Associate’s degree required;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing facility safety role required
  • Functional knowledge of email (Outlook preferred), Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrate professional communication
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to resolve issues through personal involvement or delegation to other personnel as directed by management
  • Must have a positive attitude; dependable and eager to learn
  • Desire to spend time on the shop floor vs. the office
