Operators will observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards. They will adjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to product size or processing angle. Operators remove finished packaged items from machine, separate rejected items, stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities- Work effectively and efficiently with teammates to package products to the best of their capability.
- Monitor a packaging machine during the packaging process to identify and correct malfunctions.
- Adjust machine components and machine film tension and pressure according to product size or processing former.
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor.
- Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature.
- Work with a variety of equipment while keeping the area clean, organized and free of clutter.
- Perform metal detector verification to ensure product is free of metal.
- Complete paperwork, including downtime logs and batch orders.
- Assist with team directing during changeover and/or cleaning.
- Report safety matters or malfunctions to the line lead person or supervisor.
- Perform all job functions within required General Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
- Understand and use production standards, specifications and advise when producing inefficiently.
- Keep accurate and legible documentation.
- Work with maintenance to troubleshoot machine problems.
- Verify that product meets quality standards, while counting and recording finished and rejected packaged items.
- Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Standing on a concrete floor.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, turn, stand for extended periods, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to work weekends during peak season.
- Required to work mandatory overtime when needed.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent education.
- Associate shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
- Basic math, communication, computer, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate in English and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must have mechanical skills to troubleshoot or make adjustments as necessary to ensure a quality product.
- Ability to stand on a concrete floor for long periods and perform repetitive movements and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
- Associate must work well under pressure, meet multiple deadlines.
- Work area is to be kept clean at all times.
