Position: CMM Programmer (1st Shift M-F 6AM- 2:30PM)

Woodward is looking for a CMM Level 3 Operator responsible for operating, inspecting, and programming coordinate‑measuring machines (CMM), interpreting blueprints, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams. This role operates with minimal supervision and includes early PLC involvement.

Shift & Compensation

Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday‑Friday. Hourly pay: $17.81 – $38.72.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CMM machine and maintain work instructions for set‑up and inspection of parts.
  • Program and operate specialized inspection equipment (e.g., Talyrond, Nikon vision system, CMMs) and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, routings, evaluation sheets and other documentation to determine inspection procedures and certification methods.
  • Clean, maintain, repair, calibrate measuring instruments and test equipment; work closely with engineers and suppliers to define and implement inspection methods for new products.
  • Collect and analyze inspection data, perform first‑article inspections, and compute inspection results.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) PFMEA activities and early supplier involvement (ESI).
  • Train and mentor suppliers and team members on inspection procedures and best practices.
  • Communicate project status, updates and technical information to teammates and suppliers.
  • Stay informed on technology advancements in metrology through trade shows and continuous learning.
  • Promote teamwork and safety, and uphold department safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform physical activities requiring agility and dexterity: walking, standing, bending, lifting objects.
  • Pass near vision and/or color vision examinations as required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 5years of experience.
  • Advanced programming in PC‑DMIS or other relevant metrology software.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T principles and application in inspection.
  • Proficiency with micrometers, functional and cylindrical gauges, comparators, indicator setups, and scale usage.
  • Advanced knowledge of CMM operations including set‑up, programming, and controls.
  • Computer literacy to input, access, modify, and output information via web‑based systems.
  • Knowledge of part special handling guidelines, non‑conformance procedures, and system documentation.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to internal and external audiences.
  • Mentoring experience and willingness to lead others.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills; independent action.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic computations and analytical studies.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and ability to apply to production process for continual improvement.
  • Capability to conduct Gage R&R and capability studies for CMM work.
  • Physically fit to perform moderate activities and wear protective clothing.
