Position SummaryPenco is seeking a Generator Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential standby generators and transfer switch systems. The ideal candidate has experience working with engines, an understanding of electrical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, service, and repair residential standby generators and transfer switches.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and warranty repairs.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, fuel, ignition, charging, and control-system issues.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Explain service findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers.
- Use a company-provided iPad and field-service software to document each job, including findings, work performed, and parts or materials used.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency outage service.
- 2+ years of experience in generator, electrical, HVAC, automotive, mechanical, or related field service.
- Experience working with engines and mechanical equipment.
- Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, controls, and AC/DC fundamentals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic/troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
- Comfort using iPads, mobile applications, and company software to complete job documentation.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills, with the ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Generac Air-Cooled Certification or other Generac certifications.
