Role Description The Generator Service Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the generator service department in a full-time, on-site role based in Niles, IL. This role includes managing service technicians' schedules, coordinating customer appointments, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance and repair work. The Generator Service Manager monitors service quality, troubleshoots complex technical issues, and supports technicians with guidance and training.
This position also involves communicating with customers, preparing estimates, managing parts and inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturer standards. The role collaborates with sales and administrative teams to improve processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and support the overall growth of the generator service business.
Qualifications
- Experience with residential and commercial generator systems, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Background in electrical, mechanical, or related technical fields; familiarity with Generac products is highly beneficial.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience scheduling, supervising, and coaching service technicians.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
- Organizational and time-management skills for handling multiple service calls, parts ordering, and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and installation diagrams.
- Commitment to safety practices, adherence to industry standards, and attention to detail in all service activities.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and service management software for scheduling and record-keeping.
- Previous experience in a service management or field operations leadership role is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site daily in Niles, IL, including occasional field visits as needed.
