Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Facility Maintenance, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading, directing, and optimizing all plant maintenance activities, facilities management, and equipment reliability programs to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operations. Based at the main facility, the Maintenance Manager oversees equipment, machinery, and facilities across all multi-state manufacturing sites and mobile operational units. This position leads the maintenance team, manages departmental budgets, and establishes comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
The role plays a vital part in driving operational excellence, maximizing uptime, minimizing downtime, and ensuring total facility compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Lead, coach, and manage the plant maintenance team, including daily task assignment, performance evaluations, technical development, and workflow prioritization.
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all manufacturing equipment, machinery, facilities, and utility systems to maximize equipment efficiency and lifespan.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for critical equipment breakdowns, complex mechanical or electrical failures, and emergency facility repairs.
- Analyze equipment performance metrics, downtime data, and maintenance records to identify root causes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage the departmental budget, capital expenditure projects, maintenance inventory, and procurement of spare parts, tools, and contractor services.
- Oversee contractors, vendors, and external service providers involved in facility construction, equipment installation, overhaul, or specialized repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance operations and facility modifications strictly adhere to local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and internal safety protocols.
- Maintain comprehensive records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) regarding work orders, preventive maintenance completion, parts inventory, and machine histories.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Plant Operations, Quality, and Safety leadership to align maintenance strategies with production goals and company objectives.
- Oversee facilities maintenance, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical distribution, pneumatic systems, and structural repairs.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance leadership or equivalent required; post-secondary degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related technical field preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
- Vocational training or professional certifications in electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC troubleshooting, HVAC, or welding are highly preferred. Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving, team management, project administration, and data analysis.
- Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments and direct team members.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or ERP maintenance modules.
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear).
- Driving is a requirement for this position. Therefore, must have the ability to travel domestically via operating a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver license and driving record which is acceptable to our insurance provider. Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. The ability to travel by plane and/or overnight travel may also be required.
