Custodian

Northeast Community College is seeking a full-time Custodian on the Norfolk Campus.

The purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and administrators. This is accomplished by sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming classrooms, offices, halls, restrooms, windows, corridors, and other public areas, making minor repairs, picking up supplies from the warehouse and delivering them to buildings, picking up trash, performing routine maintenance, and reporting maintenance issues in the buildings.

Other duties include maintaining assigned area(s) in a clean, orderly and attractive manner and performing related work as assigned by the Director of Custodial Services Norfolk, and the Director of Physical Plant Norfolk. Some weekends and holidays required. The work hours for this position are Monday‑Friday 1:00 pm-10:00 pm. These hours are subject to change.

Requires some cleaning knowledge and the ability to read and understand product labels.

Requires excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work successfully with students and other employees. Valid driver’s license required.

This job requires occasional overtime to assist with coverage at extra events taking place on campus. This position will remain open until filled.
