Position: Wood Worker Leader with Security Clearance
Duties
* Serves as a Wood Worker Leader assigned to DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia. Incumbent works with containers, to include Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking as well as Kitting.
* Works with and leads Wood Workers and Packers engaged in constructing skids, sheathed and unsheathed crates and boxes for equipment and material processed for storage of the items or for shipment to appropriate destinations.
* Assigns work to the crew in accordance with instructions from the supervisor; and designates the proper military standard to each order.
* Performs the full scope of Wood Worker duties, and assists or personally constructs crates and installs wooden skids as necessary to maintain production flow. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This position and any future selections from this announcement may be used to fill various shifts located anywhere within DLA Distribution Norfolk, VA Qualifications Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.

Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Working Conditions Work is normally performed in a shop or other enclosed areas which may be drafty, damp, or overheated. Sometimes incumbent works outside in fair weather, and occasionally in bad weather.

Frequently exposed to sawdust, as well as other nose and lung irritations. Frequent exposure to loud noises from power saws, particles, nails, fasteners, etc. Workers at this level are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises and scrapes, splinters, muscle strains, and other injuries from using hand Additional information Physical Effort The wood worker uses power and manual tools while performing repetitive, tiring work for long periods of time.

Frequent standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and arm movement is required. Sometimes works in cramped or awkward positions. The work requires continuous lifting, carrying, and using tools and materials that weigh up to 60 pounds. Sometimes heavier weights are lifted and moved with the assistance of others or lifting devices such as floor hoists or cranes. As required by 5 C.F.R. § 302.106, DLA will provide Section 508 conform ant ICT to employees with disabilities.
