Tidewater Community College serves South Hampton Roads and is seeking two Facilities Manager positions—one on the Norfolk campus and one on the Portsmouth campus—to supervise campus facilities management staff and act as the interim Facilities Manager when necessary. These essential positions may require work during campus closures or emergencies.
Responsibilities- Provide supervision to campus facilities management personnel, district‑assigned staff, and outside contractors on day‑to‑day activities including installation of new work, maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of all campus facilities and infrastructure.
- Give general guidance and supervision to the maintenance staff in the absence of the assigned Facilities Manager.
- May be required to perform additional duties as assigned, including assisting state or agency functions during an emergency declaration.
- Knowledge of one or more building trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical).
- Ability to supervise and train employees in facilities maintenance activities.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment necessary to maintain facilities and grounds.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, work‑order management, preventive maintenance, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of security operations and industry standards.
- Journeyman level experience in a building trade.
- Experience supervising personnel performing facilities maintenance and custodial tasks.
- Valid driver’s license.
- State certification in a building trade (preferred).
- Operation of a state vehicle (required).
- Some local travel may be required.
