Position: Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - On Call

Job Summary

Biometric Technician (BT) – Casual On‑Call position at the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) in Norridge, IL. Responsibilities include biometric registration, crowd control, customer service, and administrative support on an as‑needed basis. The role requires availability Monday through Friday, 7:45am‑4:15pm for on‑call coverage.

Responsibilities
  • Complete biometric registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
  • Verify that all individuals entering the ASC are approved applicants or visitors and enforce facility rules and policies.
  • Provide front‑line customer service, maintain a cheerful and respectful demeanor toward all applicants.
  • Safeguard all areas containing Personal Identifiable Information (PII), including paperwork, identification, electronic biometric data, and reports.
  • Capture electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established processing times.
  • Screen applicants for valid appointment notice, identification, and health status during pandemics or health crises; decline entry as required.
  • Utilize crowd‑control barriers to secure safe entry into the facility.
  • Conduct periodic interior and exterior facility checks; report concerns to the Site Supervisor.
  • Assist the Site Supervisor and/or government Immigration Service Officer with notifying local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate administrative paperwork, including processing time tracking, biometric reconciliation, and visitor control logs; sign off on facility checks.
  • Achieve certification in biometrics training within sixty days of hire.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship required for facility credentials and authorization.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to stand and remain upright for the duration of the shift.
  • Physical ability to grasp applicant hands and perform quality fingerprint capture.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high‑paced environment while interacting with the public.
  • Basic computer skills, including typing proficiency.
  • Availability for on‑call coverage Monday‑Friday 7:45am‑4:15pm.
Desired Skills
  • Proficiency in a foreign language.
Compensation

$19.47 per hour.
