Class I - III Operator (Based on Experience and License) – Full-Time

Reports To:

Superintendent & Operations Manager of Water Treatment Plant

Classification:
Unclassified (not subject to Civil Service)

Collective Bargaining Unit:
Utility Workers Union of America, Local 605

Supervises:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education beyond high school with vocational or trade school training helpful.

At least one year of experience working in the operations of a Water Treatment Plant, including lab and equipment experience, hand tool usage, mechanical and electrical tool knowledge, some sewer and water maintenance experience helpful, and the ability to operate Water Treatment Plant equipment.

Must possess and maintain a Class I - III Operator’s license and any further required continuing education hours to fulfill requirements of The Ohio EPA.

• Operate valves and gauges to control the flow of water
• Take hourly and daily tests of water
• Monitor gauges and meters, and record readings
• Adjust chemical feeders and re-supply as required
• Assist in the preparation of various EPA reports
• Perform custodial and light maintenance work
• Team player responsible for cleaning the facility and equipment, monitoring equipment condition, reporting service requirements, assisting in minor maintenance such as lubricating motors and blowers; answer telephone calls, provide information, and resolve problems personally or refer to appropriate personnel.
• Work requires a strong level of responsibility and autonomy with ability to professionally work with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; computer proficiency with excellent documentation skills
• Ability to take direction and seek clarification as needed
• Flexible with work hours to fit the operational business needs
• Perform related work as assigned or required.

Commensurate based on experience and license level per CBA contract. Class I Operator - $32.67 per hour. Class II Operator - $33.77 per hour. Class III Operator - $34.74 per hour.
