Overview
Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.
Responsibilities- Must have a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
- Follow established procedures to inspect tires and wheels before and after service.
- Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs.
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
- Document work performed accurately and according to company policy.
- Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
- Mount and dismount any type of tire on drop center, semi-drop center and multi-piece rims.
- Match mating of dual assemblies.
- Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement.
- Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
- Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
- Pull vehicles in and out of shop safely.
- Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

- Knowledge of commonly used tools — Ability to recognize and use a variety of tools, including power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, machine tools, jack stands and hoists, and common hand tools.
- Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment — Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment.
- Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole-body movement, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
- Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Materials — Identifying the cause of errors, defects, or problems through inspection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually loud. This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments, so exposure to heat and cold is to be expected. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts in awkward positions.
The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but safe practices help prevent serious accidents.
