Purpose of the position
Under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Custodian position provides upkeep to the building facility and surrounding grounds. Services such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting and routine cleaning are performed on the inside with grounds keeping/parking lot maintenance on the outside.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Vacuuming rugs and carpeted areas, sweeping and mopping tiled areas.
- Washing of windows, inside and out.
- Cleaning of restrooms, breakroom and kitchen surfaces and stocking of supplies.
- Assists with meeting room furniture, equipment and beverage service set-up and take-down.
- Bags and removes trash and/or recycling from building as needed. Places trash or recycling at/in trash receptacle(s).
- Maintains custodial and grounds equipment and stores properly after each use.
- Responsible for the placement of safety signs to caution others of floor or other surface conditions that are potentially hazardous.
- Assists with helping keep entrances clear of snow and salted for safety.
- Re-stocks paper and supplies for copiers and other office equipment.
- Maintains schedule and performs surface cleaning of offices, cubicles, meeting rooms and hallways.
- Will assist kitchen staff with regularly scheduled deep cleaning.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Pass a criminal background check which will verify that the candidate is: not excluded from participant in Medicare & Medicaid programs
- Possesses a high school diploma or work experience in lieu of educational requirement.
- Has basic computer skills, a mechanical aptitude, is a self-starter who takes initiative and pride in his/her work.
- Possesses a positive attitude and keen awareness of his/her surroundings.
- Must be reliable and exhibit excellent attendance.
- Accountability, attention to detail, and ability to work well with others.
- Ability to be flexible, change or readjust priorities as necessitated by the business and/or position.
- Is task oriented and is able to complete tasks in a timely basis in order to meet the demands of this position.
- Is respectful of the personal property of others, the office environment and grounds.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills, and physical strength as needed to accomplish assigned tasks, and the professional ability to work effectively with persons affiliated with public and private agencies and units of government.
