Lead Maintenance Technician – Classification:
Hourly. First Shift – 8 AM.
Location:
United States of America.
Position Summary
The Lead Maintenance Technician provides expertise for equipment installation, start‑up, and maintenance of plant equipment. This position also manages outside vendor relationships and provides project management support to maintenance projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Preventative Maintenance (25%):
Perform routine tasks such as greasing bearings, changing belts, changing oil, performing inspections, cleaning equipment, etc., to maintain equipment reliability. Support production workers during routine preventative maintenance activities (TPM). Optimize machine output by maximizing machine cycle times and implement key preventative tasks into the company CMMS. - Equipment Repair (20%):
Install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment; dismantle machinery to remove or replace defective parts; optimize use of maintenance resources; repair facility and building items as needed. - Equipment Troubleshooting (25%):
Identify complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic problems on production machinery and facility equipment; locate sources of problems by observing machinery in operation; utilize tools (e.g., multimeter, tachometer, calipers) to evaluate malfunctioning equipment; comply with the company’s LOTO program. - Administrative (20%):
Log all work performed into the company CMMS; perform planner workflow functions in COGZ; identify critical component needs and establish safety stock requirements; manage work orders using COGZ Plant Maintenance; complete end‑of‑shift reports; order replacement parts; schedule downtime for repairs; maintain housekeeping and keep the area clean at all times. - Contractor and Project Management (10%):
Manage outside contractors to complete large‑scale projects in the plant such as lighting repairs, new equipment installations, facility upkeep, and upgrades; assist the engineering department with onsite contractors; identify and define tasks that will be handled by outside contractors or in‑house maintenance technicians.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in a related field or Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to read and interpret directions, order details, blueprints, and electrical schemes.
- Basic knowledge of electricity, mechanics, and pneumatics; experience with tools and machinery.
- Spanish speaking a plus; basic IT knowledge of IP addresses and routers highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Occasional travel as required.
- Must pass pre‑employment physical.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Push/Pull 50 pounds.
- Stand 80–85% of the day.
- Sit 25% of the day.
- Twist/Bend 75% of the day.
- Squat/Climb/Crawl 25% of the day; work on heights up to five stories daily if required.
