Job Grade: 6B
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Reports to: Supervisor – Maintenance
Location: Wadesboro Hatchery, Wadesboro, NC
Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 8:00 AM until job is complete (subject to change based on production needs).
Starting Pay: $22.95 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

- Set up and calibrate hatchery equipment and perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer’s program (40%).
- Electrical duties: change motors, replace receptacles, adjust light fixtures, wire motors, and read voltmeters/ammeters (20%).
- Maintain HVAC units and evaporative coolers (10%).
- Troubleshoot and repair PLCs and motherboards on equipment (10%).
- Repair or replace equipment associated with offal (10%).
- Manage chiller settings, temperature, and pressure (5%).
- Troubleshoot high‑speed docks and chase Durris doors (5%).
- Meet certification requirements for respirator use and maintain skin cleanliness during work hours.
- Minimum 12 months consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps >6 months in the past 36 months (exceptions apply for layoffs, school, child or elder care).
- Applicants must reside in the United States.
- Must be willing to sign agreements related to biosecurity, animal welfare, and avian species protocols.
Expectations include safe lifting, frequent handling of up to 500 lbs, standing on concrete floors, walking, bending, stooping, and working in wet, hot, dry, dusty, or cold environments. Protective gear such as goggles, face shield, gloves, apron, earmuffs, boots, and facial coverings is required.
