Plant Maintenance Supervisor – Refrigeration (2nd Shift) - Tar Heel, NC
- Location:
Tar Heel, NC - Shift: 2nd shift, 2pm-10:30pm
- Pay: $80k-$89K/year + bonus

As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead maintenance teams responsible for the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of critical equipment throughout the plant, facilities, utilities, and powerhouse. This role is responsible for minimizing downtime, maximizing production efficiency, and ensuring equipment reliability across all operations.
You will oversee maintenance activities, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help maintain smooth production flow by ensuring equipment and systems operate at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead teams of Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Train employees on proper work methods, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.
- Supervise maintenance systems, processes, and documentation to drive operational excellence.
- Coach and develop employees while fostering a positive work environment.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Production to ensure timely equipment and facility repairs.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs, TPM initiatives, SOPs, and safety procedures.
- Provide troubleshooting support, root cause analysis, and long‑term solutions to equipment failures.
- Support resource planning efforts to maintain operational efficiency.
- Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to:
- Equipment reliability
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Supplier performance
- Contractor performance
- Provide regular maintenance performance reports to leadership.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with USDA regulations and company standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory documentation.
- Assume responsibility for critical tasks during the absence of key personnel.
- Delegate and prioritize responsibilities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Drive employee engagement through coaching, mentoring, and development.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution and at least 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience with ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems.
- Experience leading, training, coaching, or mentoring employees.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills related to manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Advanced technical knowledge in:
- Compressed air systems
- Mechanical and electrical systems
- PLCs and instrumentation
- Experience leading maintenance operations in a large manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Preventive and predictive maintenance systems
- TPM programs
- Work order management
- Inventory control
- Scheduling software
- Demonstrated leadership skills including:
- Conflict resolution
