The Western Piedmont Council of Governments is seeking a dedicated and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position plays a vital role in providing safe, clean, and well‑maintained housing for Valdese Public Housing Authority residents. Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of maintenance and repair duties for VHA buildings and facilities. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for completing routine maintenance, responding to resident service requests, and helping ensure that our properties remain safe, functional, and in compliance with VHA standards.

of Duties
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on VHA buildings, apartments, grounds, and related facilities.
  • Complete basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical repairs.
  • Repair doors, windows, locks, hardware, flooring, and other building components.
  • Assist with heating, ventilation, and electrical system maintenance and repairs.
  • Receive and respond to resident maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, and daily activity logs.
  • Inspect buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Transport equipment and supplies using WPCOG vehicles as needed.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with identifying equipment and material needs to support department operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, construction, or a related field is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Supplemental Information

This position requires on‑call rotation to respond to emergency maintenance requests after normal business hours.
