Machine Maintenance Technician; Facilities Maintenance, Fire System Maintenance

Overview

Machine Maintenance Technician position at Newton Instrument Company (NIC) in Butner, NC. NIC produces metal products for the telecom industry, with a focus on racks and cabinets for network electronics. This role supports maintenance of complex machinery and related systems to ensure safe, reliable operations.

• Perform detailed preventative maintenance, repairs, and modifications on all machinery, maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge.
• Install, maintain, and repair machines and related equipment, including motors, mechanical devices, belts, drives, air compressors, air handling systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical control systems, electrical wiring, and electronic circuits.
• Perform complex electrical and electronic troubleshooting, repair, and installation.
• Coordinate machine repairs with Manufacturing Engineering, Production Management, and service technicians from machine manufacturers.
• Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace worn parts; reassemble, level, align, and test machines to ensure proper function.
• Work on fire sprinkler systems, robotic equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, vehicles, and similar equipment as needed.
• Perform general repair and maintenance of the facility and buildings; follow safety rules and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Availability for on-call duty during off-hours.
• FSMT License is a plus; initiative to earn an FSMT License is required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; 1+ year of machine/facilities maintenance preferred.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Good communication skills; ability to read, write, and understand instructions, warnings, labels, and postings.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Exert heavy physical effort, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Stand, walk, climb, reach, lift, carry, pull, push, grasp, stoop, squat, bend, and stretch as needed.
• Work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment; personal protective equipment is typically required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $28.50 per hour
