Location: Tyrrell County Schools
Reports To: Child Nutrition Director
Work Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week (Monday - Friday, school calendar)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Benefits: This is a part-time position and does not include benefits.

Tyrrell County Schools is seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to join our Child Nutrition team as a Part-Time Child Nutrition Assistant. This role supports the preparation and serving of meals to students in a safe, clean, and efficient environment while following all local, state, and federal guidelines.

• Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in the school cafeteria.
• Set up serving lines, portion food, and replenish items as needed.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, food prep surfaces, and equipment.
• Receive and store food and supplies properly according to safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Follow all safety procedures and comply with USDA meal pattern and portion requirements.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service to students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Child Nutrition Director or cafeteria manager.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must pass a background check and health screening as required by the district.

• This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week.
• Work hours and location may vary based on school assignment and daily needs.
• This position does not include benefits.
