Maintenance Technician
The ideal candidate is a versatile problem-solver who is equally comfortable troubleshooting a piece of production equipment, repairing a plumbing issue, or tackling a facility improvement project. This individual takes a proactive approach to maintenance, works collaboratively across departments, and helps minimize operational disruptions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform general building maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other repairs within the scope of training and qualifications.
- Maintain doors, locks, lighting, fixtures, and other facility components.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain exterior areas, including basic groundskeeping and coordinating seasonal maintenance as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and address issues in a timely manner.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete minor equipment repairs within the scope of training and qualifications.
- Assist with equipment installation, adjustments, and general upkeep.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential problems before they result in downtime.
- Coordinate with outside contractors or specialized technicians when repairs require additional expertise.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of basic mechanical systems, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and complete repairs independently within the scope of training and qualifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing operational needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production, warehouse, and office personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing, food production, or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience maintaining conveyors, packaging equipment, or other production machinery.
- OSHA safety training or related certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment for heavier loads.
- Ability to work in manufacturing, warehouse, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with general facility and equipment maintenance, with or without reasonable accommodation.
