Duties and Tasks
- Clean and sanitize assigned resident, public, restroom, and work areas according to established schedules and standards.
- Perform routine cleaning duties including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, carpet cleaning, surface cleaning, and trash removal.
- Clean and maintain a variety of flooring, including carpet, tile, and hardwood.
- Complete scheduled deep-cleaning activities such as wall washing, carpet extraction, and privacy curtain laundering.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums, carpet extractors, and floor-care equipment.
- Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, floor care products, and other custodial supplies in accordance with safety procedures and SDS guidelines.
- Monitor assigned areas and report needed repairs, equipment issues, safety concerns, or other facility concerns to the appropriate department.
- Follow infection control practices, safety procedures, facility policies, and departmental quality standards.
- Report observed changes in a resident's condition to Nursing or Social Services.
- Attend required training and consistently meet established cleaning schedules and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Good communication skills and the ability to provide dependable, quality service.
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate custodial equipment.
- Ability to safely work with cleaning chemicals and follow SDS and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, and/or push up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally work in varying temperatures, around unpleasant odors, and on a ladder when necessary.
Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not required.
