Internal Audit Intern

Job Description

Stepan Company is looking for a motivated individual to join our Northbrook, IL based Internal Audit team as a summer intern to assist with day-to-day operations and projects. Internship projects will include testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), supporting operational audit procedures, and contributing to departmental continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with evaluation of design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, as mandated by Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404

* Assemble relevant information for use in planning and execution of risk-based projects

* Develop and prepare internal audit templates and work papers

* Provide administrative support to the Internal Audit team

* Effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization to support the Internal Audit team

Qualifications

* Excellent oral and written communication, as well as interpersonal skills

* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task

* Ability to be proactive and meet project deadlines

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment

* Self-starter with good problem-solving skills

* Detailed oriented and strong analytical skills

* Prior professional experience preferred

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office

* Experience with data analytics is strongly desired

* Foreign language proficiency (Spanish, German, French, Mandarin) is a plus

Education

* Current student pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Accounting with an interest in audit (rising juniors and seniors are preferred)

* Strong academic track record (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3)

Pay Range: $21-23/hour

The pay range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
